I have a Presario 1611NX with the A8AE-LE mobo, and I cant get it to boot. I have been running win7 32 bit for quite a while with no issues. I should also mention that I have upgraded the CPU( AMD 64x2 4400), the memory (2 sticks of 1gb), and installed an ATI Radeon X800 PCI-e video card, all with no issues, until a couple days ago.
It will not boot up, no matter what I try:
removed video card
swapped out memory, trying all 4 slots
disconnect all hardware
I tested my hard drive and graphics card in another computer, and they are working. I also removed the processor and installed the old one, a Sempron 3200, and it didn't help. I am assuming the motherboard is dead and would welcome some opinions, since I am by no stretch of the imagination a computer expert. Is there anyway i can verify that the mobo is bad, before I buy a new one? Is there a different socket 939 board I can use, that is compatible with the hardware/system hat I have now ? Any thoughts and /or comments would be greatly appreciated.

well it seems that your mobo is indeed dead.....but just in order to be 100% sure you can try the following:

1. although it may sound crazy, you have to start you pc with everything attached to your board except the processor and keep it on for a couple of seconds and than put the processor back in and start it again. (to ensure that you mobo correctly finds the processor)
2. try unplugging all the power switch, reset switch, hdd activity switch, power led connectors from the mainboard and switch your machine manually by short circuiting the power switch connectors. (to ensure that you cabinet switches are not damaged)
3. see if the mobo has a power led and ensure that it is on after you switch the main power to your pc on. (to ensure that your smps/psu is working properly )

Thanks for the reply, I will give #1 a try in a minute. As for your other suggestions, I actually had a bad swithch on my pc , and was powering up and resetting exactly as you mentioned, by shorting the wires. I robbed a switch off an old pc i had lying around, and it works so that possibility has already been addressed. As for #3, there is no led on the board, and I happened to have a spare working power supply on hand as well, and I did try it,with the same results. As for #1..........

Yeah there's not much in the way of new stuff out there with a socket 939, i did find a couple of used A8AE-LE boards anywhere from 40-100 bucks, i don't know what else would be compatible. Would any 939 board work, or am i limited to the A8AE-LE ?. I'll have to look into it, like i said i am no tech. Anyway, thanks for the help
