Hello out there! I have repeatedly installed Pro Tools 7 LE for Mac on a PPC G5 OSX 10.4.11,Tiger 1.6 ghz, 2gb ram. I have not been able to boot the program without getting (-48) "A file with the specific name already exist while creating "Library" while creating "Prefrences" while creating "DAE Prefs"). The boot up quits, nothing happens.

I followed Avid's instructions from the web page to delete the prefrences from the user library and the DAE prefrence after every attempt with no luck.

I have repeatedly run Apple disk utility afterward but Pro Tools 7 LE for Mac keeps showing me that same prompt. I don't want to have to reinstall the OS. I really need help!
Thanks any and everyone!

Have you check to make sure you have "Read" and "Write" permissions on the drive or folder where the preferences would be written?

One suggestion is to "The installer is trying to set up a file or folder for your Pro Tools audio engine (DAE) preferences, and for whatever reason, it cannot. I'd first attempt to repair permissions. Find Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities/ and run it. Select your boot volume in the left sidebar and hit Repair Permissions under the right window. Wait. Wait a little more."

I'm not sure if this applies but another suggestion is to turn off FileVault

Hello Kenrivers. Thanks for the reply! "Read & Write" on the hard drive and folder are enabled. I tried to turn off "File Vault", but did not have 400 Gigs of hard drive space required as prompted..so couldn't do that. I again repaired disk permissions, with the same -48 as before. Any other thoughts?
Mike
