Finally upgraded to Intel processors and have had more problems than I've ever experienced putting together a computer.

I5-3550P processor
Patriot Viper (PV38G160C9KRD) 4 gig ram (x2)

MSI Z77A-G45 mobo....replaced with ASus P8Z77A-V LX

Cooler Master GX 750 W psu .... replaced with Corsair TX 650 M

SSD .... replaced with WD 1TB mechanical

Nvidia GTX 650 Ti.... replaced with GTX 650 Ti Boost

I've included all of the above information to show that I've replaced everything except the monitor, keyboard and case (Corsair Carbide 200R).

Ever since I put the original together I've had problems POSTing. Totally intermittent, but usually occurring at the start of the day (I work nights and turn off the computer when I'm gone).

Cold it will start (power led on, fans spin up) but nothing else happens.

Read a comment on one of the forum posts about the RAM and so I removed 1 stick and presto, no problems.

Came home from work and switched the memory sticks and booted with no problems.

Came home from work and put both memory sticks back on the mother board and original problem returned.

I don't know what to do now other than just keep one stick in this computer and purchase another case and use all of the extra components with the other stick.

Any suggestions?

If you can't run memtest successfully with both sticks, I suspect you have a ram kit problem.
The ram kit is the one thing that has not changed.
Contact patriot. They will verify that your motherboard ram settings are ok for their ram. The defaults are normally fine.
They should be willing to rma the ram.

I downloaded and run the memtest app when I first had problems but everything ran satisfactory with no reported problems. Since I've switched out the motherboards, I don't believe that it is a memory slot issue.

I just checked the Asus website for the QVL listing and, surprisingly, the memory modules I'm using are not listed for my motherboard. If I'm reading the notes correctly, a single stick will work in any memory slot, which would explain why I don't have a problem using only 1 stick. Going to try a set of Kingston Hyper X off the QVL to see if that makes a difference.

I should have just bought a pre-made system. It would have been cheaper and my blood pressure would have remained in the normal range.
