I have a Gigabyte Socket AM3 880GA UD3H. Recently, after ruling out hard drives, (one SSD other spinner), fans, including cpu fan, I have a whining noise sort of high pitch that is constant when the computer is running going on. Turned off speakers and still have it. The only fan I could not check was the PSU fan. So, I'm wondering if this is a mobo problem? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

May have been picking up th CPU wasn't spinning or was spinning to low. If ya turn off alarm, you run the risk of not getting notified of a CPU fan failure. To resolve:

1. Look up minimum fan speed for your CPU fan
2. Open BIOS and set minimum fan speed to 10 rpm below what ya found out in step 1
3. Turn alarm back on

I am married so... but anyway, I tried the paperclip trick and the psu is silent. (meaning not the cause of the noise). Thanks for your witty reply :0
