Hi. I am looking for a new wireless network card for my XPS L702X. I would like to know if my computer is able upgrade to the 802.1.1AC wireless standard and have it work efficiently. Dell is of no use. My current card is the Intel Centrino Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150. It is ok but I am upgrading my wireless router and would like the AC format. I know the AC is backwards compatible but would like to get the most out of my machine even if an upgraded card only gets me 2/3 of the way closer to the AC standard. Also, I think my machine has 2 antennas and I have not been able to determine if this matters when converting to AC or not. Any card recommendations would be greatly appreciated also. Thank you.

Thanks for your response. I do understand the need to upgrade the card. I am wondering if my machine will upgrade properly. I am not sure about the necessary antenna requirements or if there are any. I have read about the antennas but never found a consistant answer. Also, I guess the only way to know if I have a mini slot is to open it up an look, right? Are all 5ghz cards mini? Thanks again.

not all are, they are just form factor for laptops incase they happen to be smaller laptops with less room, if yours happens to be a full size minipci it comes with a bracket that you attach to it to make it fit in the full size. Yes your laptop will upgrade just fine as long as you have the correct card (a later pci dualband card like the one i posted here earlier) and as for your wireless card its easy to get to, just CAREFULLY pull the 4 clips at the top of your keyboard back, i do think it uses the minipci.

Thanks again. I have the Intel 6150-N in my machine now. For some reason I am having a difficult time determining if the card you suggested would fit into my machine. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
