I did have it all typed out on the first page but seems like that was the title nevermind

Ill try again

Hi

I have a problem with my Advent T200 Laptop on Windows 8.

It all started yesterday while on it, it suddenly became really slow and unresponsive. I could also ear a clicking noise coming from inside.

I decided to close everything and shut it down which was also taking a while to do.

When I booted it back up it took approx 20 minutes to get from me powering it on to getting to the desktop screen. While there it took an age to load chrome and task manager. While on the task manager screen I checked under the performance tab and seen that disk ussage was 100%. I was not running anything and I have over 500gb memory free anyway. I could also still hear the clicking noises. I decided to shut down again (which took about 10 minutes) and leave it for a while.

When I restarded this time it took about an hour to load up from me switching it on to get to the desktop screen and when there nothing was responsive. I couldnt open any programs. I shut it down again (which also took an age to do) and left it for the night.

This morning when I went to load it up, I couldnt get passed the advent loading screen. Once it did go passed it there was just a blank screen with nothing happening (no clickin noises now though) and would not do anything.

I tried earlier to put a Windows 8 disk in to see if that would do anything. All that done was just about the same but after the advent loading screen instead of going to the blank screen it had an error message and needed to restart while it fixed it for me (the error message is there and gone so fast its impossible to see). On restart it would then go back to the advent loading screen with the words "preparing automatic repair" on screen. After that screen it just goes back to the blank screen again.

The laptop is still on, making the noises it does normally and the fan is on so its still running but as I say there is just a blank screen.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
Neale

it sounds like the hard drive is going down.how new is the laptop? any warranty? if its within the warranty period get it in for repair.if not if you can try the hard drive in an enclosure on another machine to see if it will read do it. if you have another hard drive to try on yours same thing.my money is on a bad hard drive here.

Thanks aldan, im not very technically minded so im not sure how to try the hard drive in an enclosure means. If my hard drive is goosed can you get them replaced in a laptop or is it knackered? I have had it 7 months so should be under warranty though i have heard they can take a while repairing though and i need it for work.

Thanks
Neale

Ps still on phone so apologise for any spelling mistakes

absolutely they can be replaced. i wouldnt mess with it if it is under warranty.let the manufacturer worry about that. if you or someone you know has an external hd enclosure with a sata hookup you should be able to plug in your drive and see if it can be read.again though,i would let your warranty handle it.
