I’m contemplating doing an upgrade from the gaming build in did back in 2010.

The concern I have is that my old components will really impact the gains provided by a new card. Basically, having games bottleneck in terms of FPS/performance. Also, I plan on getting a 1140 Korean IPS monitor which will also put extra strain on the system.

Below are my components:
1. Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 LGA 1156 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3287#sp

2. CPU: i5-760 2.80 GHZ

3. Ram: 12GB DDR3-1333

4. PSU: Antec TruePower New TP-650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V.

New video card wise, I’m thinking of going with preferably a 7970, if not a 770. I’m looking to spend max $400, so either of these would work. Would you guys have any recommendations on a specific card?

Get a good air cooler for your CPU and clock it as high as it will go.
I recommend the Thermalright Macho Rev. A

As for the graphics card, they are both really close performance wise with the GTX 770 being slightly ahead.
The difference is due to the difference in clock speeds, so if you're planning to overclock, there's no reason to go for the GTX 770.

This is a pretty good offer.

And so is this.
