After many years of non-use, I am attempting to connect a Toucam on multiple XP computers. The results are the same on all computers. Device Manager classes the video as UNKNOWN and generic audio drivers are installed. Oddly, USBDeview reveals that the unknown device's ID shows it to be a Logitech webcam. I may have installed a Logitech webcam at some point, but it is no longer there. I have confirmed no software and find no entries in the registry. One computer actually still retained an entry from the original camera. The serial number for the original varies from the current listed version on 2 digits. The Toucam comes with a software intaller program and does not offer driver files. Since XP presents an invalid ID, it will not proceed. i have deleted and reinstalled the cameras drivers/SW numerous times. As this failure has occurred on 3 dif XP machines, I have not deleted all USB drivers. BIOS and XP are up to date. Any direction would be appreciated.

Yes, I downloaded the current driver from that site. Unfortunately, it is an executable file with software and drivers. it installs software and asks that the camera be plugged in. But, the software does not recognize the camera. Again, XP seems to be assigning a dif ID and S/N. I have attempted this perhaps 20X. Oddly, one time it did correctly recognize the device, but it still did not install vid drivers.

That's an interesting suggestion. I never considered someone else making the cam for Philips. Interestingly, a search for the Device Manager ID (VID_04cc&PID_8116) reveals hits for Logitech AND ST Ericsson? However, the older entry I have on my computer for the Toucam (VID0471&PID_0311) is very specifically linked to Philips. I may have to give it a try. Already located the Logitech drivers.

Tried your suggestion and used the Logitech drivers for appropriate ID. Like Philips, drivers are buried in an executable file. Also like Philips, installation failed when software failed to recognize camera. I just don't understand enough about USB protocols to figure this one out.
