I was thinking about upgrading from my stereo sound headset, to a surround sound headset. However I'm not sure if my sound card can handle it.
I have a built-in Sound Card-(3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard)
And i have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 24bit 7.1 Channel Audio Card Part Number: SB0410, K4562 I'm thinking that the sound card is a 7.1 digital system and a 5.1 analog system but im not sure.

Solution
some surround sound headsets have a soundcard built into them. if this is the case you dont need a soundcard at all. these often hook up via usb.

if you buy one that requires 5 3.5mm cables (7.1+mic) then you need a 7.1 analog connector soundcard.

But they have multiple speakers in each ear piece, you can actually see the different ones on some of the see- through designs. I mean I'm not a pro, but it makes sense why there are 5 different 3.5 mm leads going to the tower.

Ya... I'm getting a headset that requires the 5 3.5 mm leads. so i think I'm gunna check out www.newegg.com for a decent analog sound-card. Thanks for the help
