Hi there!

I have a Core i5 4570k with a AMD7870 card. However I spend 90% of my time in linux (web dev), Unix base system rules for dev IMO. My only pain in the neck is how poorly and unstable AMD vid cards are on linux.

Long story short: I want to buy a entry level Nvidia card for my system around the $100ish dollars mark, What do you guys recommend?

As long as it is silent and vid performance is on par with intel HD5000 I'm more than happy.

honestly, for development, why not just use intel's HD4500?

that aside, something along the lines of a gtx 650 should do the trick

performance is a bit better than intel's graphics tho

Can you buy intel's HD as stand alone cards? I haven't see them.. Considering Intel's linux drivers are suppose to be the best, I wouldn't hesitate.

You seem to be confused...

Intel does not make cards. VMEM is referring to the graphics chip built INTO intel Processors.

I bought one of the new GT 640's for my girlfriend's Ubuntu rig, and it's been working great... even playing a few games on Wine (STO, WoW) with it.

good luck, Intel's graphics have come a long way, and that gtx 650 or 740 will always be there if HD4000 isn't enough lol
