Hello,
I am going to be buying a new graphics card. I am on a $250 budget and I am not sure whether I should get the 7870 GHz, which is much cheaper, or the 7950. The 7950 would be this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150671
The 7870 would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161411
I would be playing games like Crysis 3, BF3 and whatever games I get from Never Settle, like Far Cry 3. I have a 1080p monitor and a 17'' 1280x1024 monitor that I use for youtube or something while gaming. Which card do you think would be best for me?

(I know there are a ton of these threads, but with current prices the game has changed a little bit)

Solution

Hi - If you believe the Sapphire to be the better card (and I agree with Gam3r that it is),
you should go for the better card as well as the best card you can afford and your
system (PSU) can support.

And tho prices have already come down on AMD cards (there's a 7970 @ $270), I agree
with Jack...

Good choice, but the XFX comes with Crysis 3, and has the same core speed as the Sapphire does with boost enabled. Would it be worth the extra $10 for Crysis, or should I buy it separately?

going to go up after the next series releases.

That is odd, that the price would climb like that. Between those 2 the Blower type cooler of the sapphire is on the weaker side. I would recommend the the XFX over it, but its not the first choice. A few days ago the price of 7950s went up on newegg for a few hours, then went back down to those prices.

I am pretty sure the prices will go back down after the paypal balance (from selling my old card) transfers in to my bank account (3 days... lol) and by then the new 9000's will be announced. So I might be able to snag a 7970 for ~$250 if I'm lucky, or just get a big discount on the 7950.
