Hi. Recently when playing games, after a while, my computer would restart itself with no error messages. The fans would turn on as well as the LED's, but no POST. The monitor would also be on stand-by (black). Sometimes after this happens, the CPU fan and the SYS fan (connected to the mobo) won't spin, so I'm guessing it's a problem with my motherboard? Shutting it down and clearing the CMOS would temporary fix the problem and allow it to be up and running again until I attempt to play games. What could be the problem?

Specs:
Windows 7
i5 - 3470 @ 3.4ghz
Biostar H77MU3
Asus 7870 1GHZ Edition
PSU: Corsair CX 500
Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM

Doesn't look like you're overclocking so that wouldnt be an issue, have you checked the temps of your computer at idle and under load? if that turns out to be fine, check your ram.

Have u at any point fiddled with the fan on the cpu? Maybe check if that fan is tightly placed on the cpu.. Intel shuts its cpu down when it gets too got to protect it's self from burning up.

Actually, my brother oc's the gpu every time he plays. If that's the case, what do you think the issue is?

The CPU fan is pretty secure and running well. I don't think the CPU overheating is the issue
