Most computers have a setting in the BIOS on what to do in the event of a power loss. I don't know if laptops have this as they have batteries. If they do, then there might be an option that says what to do if power is restored:
1. Stay off.
If Start is selected, try selecting "Remain Off" or whatever the option is.
1. Remove AC adapter from wall and laptop for a couple minutes (only if it's been left plugged into the wall).
2. Remove the battery and try running with the AC adapter only.
3. Reinsert the battery and hookup adapter.
So I'm not exactly sure what's going on but it's worth trying this.
