sometimes I would leave my pc on over night to render and in he morning it would switch it self off and not power back up. After resetting the cmos it would load again. Randomly my pc wont pass this stage (see attached)

  • * I've stripped the PC to the minimum. CPU, PSU, 1 sick of RAM. no devices connected, not even a keyboard.
    * I've changed the battery on the motherboard
    * I cannot enter any of the options given by the bios.
    * If I try the EZ flash 2 I get the logo on the bios splash screen but it does not pass the splash screen
    * I've tried different sticks of RAM
    * I've reset the cmos using the jumpers and also by holding down the button on the motherboard.
nothing seems to fix it.

Have you any suggestions?. I'm out of ideas
thanks Jaime

That is not a CMOS reset switch. That is used for something else. The manual says,

>>>Installing DIMMs that are incompatible with the motherboard may cause system boot failure, and the DRAM_LED near the MemOK! switch lights continuously. Press and hold the MemOK! switch until the DRAM_LED starts blinking to begin automatic memory compatibility tuning for successful boot.<<<

Basically, it's a feature for testing the memory prior to booting.

What you want to use is number 13, which is the "Clear RTC RAM" 3-pin thing with the jumper on it to clear the CMOS. It is at the bottom of your mobo farthest away from the CPU. See section 2.6 of your manual for instructions on how to reset the CMOS.
