What sort of ethernet cable should I buy?

I have a 30mbps connection and I will more than likely require a 100 foot cable in order to run it beneath the house from where the modem is to where my computer will be. What's the best, affordable cable for me to get in this situation?

  2. Cat5E fine, or go Cat6 if you think you may be prone to electrical interference.
  3. If the cable is no touching the dirt and is kept dry you can use normal cat5e cable. Most likely you can get 100ft ones for between $10-$15. After that you will need direct bury cable or you must protect the cable with some form of plastic pipe or tubing.
