Going to purchase a 250gb ssd with a plan of using as primary drive. (OS + Software)..
And keep the 1tb hard drive for data..

How it compare to using 250gb ssd as cache in overall performance?

250 GB is usually sufficient to store your OS and all your apps. You can place your music, images and videos on your hdd.
So you know what is always fast, even programs you use very seldom.
