Help with upgrading my old system, need new cpu/mobo

I was wondering what type of mobo I should upgrade my system to? As well as a new cpu. I wanna make this machine really beast for gaming but not sure which mobo would be best for that as well as not exceed my current budget of $150. Also, I was looking into getting an Intel Core i5-3570k since I heard they were great for gaming and I need to get rid of my old cpu.

(Just trying to update my system and make it slightly more "future proof"!)

Current old System:

Diablotek Abyss White Mid Tower Case;

GeForce Gtx 660;

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz;

NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI mobo;

CoolerMaster Seidon 120M cpu water cooler;

Is $150 your budget for your motherboard or for both?

sorry, I should have specified that, $150 is my max that I will buy a mobo for.
I'll spend up to $250 for a new cpu and I might need a new psu as well.

Right on! I'll definitely be getting that mobo as well as the psu. The cpu was the same one I was looking at earlier in the week. Would it be able to run BF4 at High settings you think? This machine will mainly be gaming on BattleField 4 haha.
And I was wondering which RAM would be the best for this board? I was thinking around 16GB going maybe Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz. Other than that, I'm pretty sure my current cpu cooler will fit nicely onto the new mobo and fit the intel i5 just fine.

Excellent choice!
I have this CPU, all games will use 2-4 cores, this CPU has 4 cores, its definitely fast enough and overclockable for more performance... so yes, it would be perfect to BF4 :)
In regard to the RAM, corsair vengeance is definitely the right choice, 8Gb will be enough though, but 16gb will be better.

And Ive just checked your cooler, it is compatible with this CPU :)
