Hey,

I just built my first PC and plugged in the GTX 770 2GB cause I thought I was only doing gaming from 1 screen. But the grass is always greener, and I saw some Surround setups with 3/4 screens using nvidia surround and I'd like to upgrade...

I have two screens now, so would have to get a 3rd, but is the GTX 770 2GB powerful enough? Screens are 1920x1080, so three would be 5760x1080.

What's the best way to do this:

1. Is the GTX 770 2gb good enough to handle that screen size?
2. If not, will a second gtx 770 2gb in SLI be powerful enough?
3. Sell the 2GB version, upgrade to the 4gb?
3b. Get a second 4gb and SLI?

Here are my specs for reference:

CPU: i7-4770K at 4.5ghz - could probably push it closer to 5Ghz if needed (currently at 1.19 vcore)
Cooling: Corsair h100
MB: MSI - z87-g45
RAM: 8GB DDR3
HD: 256 GB SSD
HD: 1TB HDD
GPU: MSI GTX 770 2GB

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

If you want to run 5760x1080 at 60 fps, then you're going to need more than one card and more than 2GB of vram. I would suggest you get two 770 4GB and that should work well.

Just get a second GTX 770. I run a Surround setup on 2 Gigabyte GTX 670's 2gb. I have not had any problems at all running 5760x1080 on any game that supports it. As long as the PSU can handle it just get a 3rd monitor and second GTX 770 and you will be set.

The reason I suggest 4GB is upcoming games like BF4 are using more than 2GB at 1920x1080. While 2GB will certainly work, to use the highest quality textures on the latest engines, you will need more than 2GB.

Thanks for all the responses.

What about selling the 2GB GTX 770 and buying one 780 right now? Then a second one for SLI as it starts to struggle with games?

Right now I'm using a GTX 770 with three 1080p screens hooked up to both DVI's and the HDMI and in Surround it runs any games I throw at it, base clock speed. But if you are going to be playing BF4 and next gen games, you probably should get another 770 if your budget allows, they are kick ass cards.
