i have i7-27000k 3.5 ghz
16 gigs of ram
win7 64
gtx 570
used to be able to play BF3 on ultra cant play MOH warfighter at all the lag and stuttering is even worse. that game i also used to play on ultra settings easy
last few weeks i had occasional times when i would have to reeboot PC because of horrible lag and framerates
now last night i happened and no amount of reebooting would help
ive defraged scanned for maleware and viruses
did stress tests on that video card and a new 550i that i had never used
checked temps and all were fine.
why suddenly am i having such bad lag?
ive thought of everything and went thru many forums trying all the tips and ideas i have found.
have reinstalled games but i really dont think its a game issue and of course that hasnt helped

did some furmark tests and they were horribly low scores but i have read that its unreliable anyway so comming here for any ideas i may have missed.

the voltages on my PSU check out fine according to bios
im stumped and upset about this because usually i find the answer easily for any issues.

all temps are fine from CPU to GPU

ive used OCCT and speedfan to check everything and even went into BIOS to double check the voltages and from what ive read everything is running as expected.

have yet to reinstal windows but this seems to me like a hardware issues more than software issue
as you can see ive done alot of research and have tried everything i know of and have read about. probably even forgot to mention some of it here ive done so much
anyone have any clue ?

Solution
I'm pretty certain it is a software issue but troubleshooting can be difficult.

One thing you can try is to use System Restore:

1. Create a NEW Restore Point
2. Then Restore a point to a time you are certain you had no issues

Other than restoring Windows I can't really help too easily.

Other:
Look in DEVICE MANAGER to see if any conflicts who up (Yellow/Black exclamation mark).

device manager is clean. no conflicts at all. i did a restore point and its still doing it. cant even play simple games like FIFA soccer. almost like my system downgraded itself.

i was thinking of reinstalling windows as well. i really dont know what else to try

very little hard drive activity and anyvirus and firewall off has had no impact at all.

just did a reinstall of windows. so far so good. installed a game that had been skipping and haning and lagging like mad and just played it smoothly. like i said so far so good ill update if anything changes.

photonboy thank you for your opinion because that is what made me say heck with it and do the reinstall.
and thank you to everyone who is helping on this.

Great.
When you have everything installed again, make a BACKUP IMAGE of your C-Drive. Windows Image or the free version of Acronis True Image (WD or Seagate. Seagate name at support site is not Acronis TI I think.)

This backup should sit on a separate drive and never delete it in case you need to restore. I suggest a SECOND ONE that you periodically replace as well, but never delete the first one. Then, if you get the same problem you can easily Restore in minutes.

Before backup:
1) Main Chipset driver from motherboard support site installed
2) Video, audio and other drivers
3) Microsoft Updates all complete
4) Programs installed
5) Windows Activated
