im a complete and utter noob please help me not fail at life by answering some questions

so basicly i have ordered all the parts i need for my new 1st time pcbuild and im excited as :D but somthing suddenly hit me. for my processor i chose the i7 4770k because i want to overclock at some point when i can afford a proper fancooling solution instead of the stockfan. but what about the thermal paste? will the thermal paste i put on now for the stockfan go off? do I reuse it? im a forever if i put it on and have to use stockcooling til i buy a new processor? i know i sound like a retard but i really dont know... furthermore if my fears have root in reality, what fan should i get? will the cm 212 evo be good for overclocking? its realatively cheap where i live and ive read som good stuff about it, will i be able to overclock with it? if so how much? I apriciate any advice you guys can give me.

When you want to put on a new CPU cooler, you remove all the existing paste on the CPU, and put new paste on.
CoolerMaster coolers come with a tube of adequate paste.

The 212 series is quite good for the price, provided your case is large enough.

You can take off the thermal paste people use alcohol or products like the Arctic Silver Arcticlean that can clean the cpu off and you can put on new thermal paste

Don't worry, be happy.

You are fine. With the stock cooler you simply cannot overclock. When you buy the after market fan, they come with a tube of thermal paste usually. Or you can just buy a tube of paste to make sure you will always have some on hand. Yes, the Cooler Master 212 EVO gives you about the best cooling per dollar value. For better cooling, you can get a premium air cooler something like the Noctua NH-D14 or Noctua NH-C14, assuming they will fit in your case. The next level cooling is a top level water cooler, but to beat the premium air coolers like the Noctua's I suggested, you would need something like the Corsair H100i. Keep in mind each level of cooling beyond the CM 212 EVO will only give you about 200MHz more.

Also keep in mind overclocking is a gamble. You may have a fast part that will push 4.7G with just the CM 212 EVO while another chip will only give you 4.5G with the massive Corsair H100i.

That was a kinda dramatic title wasn't it! :)

The 212 EVO is an excellent choice and it comes with good thermal compound so if you get it just use the compound that comes with it, you can use isopropyl alcohol I prefer the 91% you can snag from any drug store, and use the alcohol and some small pieces of paper towel to remove the old compound.

You can use the pea size drop in the center of the CPUs heat spreader, that will be sufficient as mounting the EVO will spread out the compound, if the EVO is shipped with protective plastic covering the base make sure you remove it before mounting the heat sink.

Congratulations on your choice of CPU, it's a good one for sure!
