ISSUE'S:
( 1 ) I wanted to UPGRADE by removing the existing 500GB HDD & install ( X 2 ) OCZ Vertex 4 SSD's BUT then I reviewed this thread: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?105355-Installing-vertex-4-128GB-into-laptop-
After reading this I am now back to step 1, trying to determine WHICH 2 SSD's will work in this system without creating even more issues! I have already ordered the Hardware kit ( 517639-001 ) as described in this thread: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/Is-the-secondary-sata-cable-on-dv7-3165dx-different-than-the/m-p/1398979#M7112
So I can successfully mount the SSD. The reason for installing the 2 SSD's is mostly due to the LapTop/Notebook is being used in a Over The Road truck & the HDD has failed before where as I feel the SSD's will last longer as well as it will produce less heat. The issue is getting ( X 2 ) SSD's that will work with the unit & not have any issues. I want the best SSD's that offer 128GB or equivalent in storage & I want them to be SATA III if possible so if this unit fails I can move them into another newer system in the future. With all this being stated, WHAT SSD will work & achieve SPEED, LESS HEAT, EQUIVILENT STORAGE & COMPATABILITY with HP's BIOS & allow me to use it in a newer system in the future? Please provide me with links & details if possible. I use Newegg as a supplier of components. Thank You :)

Samsung SSDs are at the top of most reviews and ratings. The 840 Pro is a very good drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147192
If that is too expensive, you may want to consider the 840 EVO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1J211H7828 but it uses TLC memory and only has a 3 yr. warranty vs. 5 yr. on the Pro.
