Hi guys.Just did and overclock on my laptop GPU and i got a nice 20% improvement with only 4 degrees celcius added(it seems i have a good ventilation).Right now my GPU stays at 60 degrees celcius in full load(only in few games i got 65 but no more)
My questing is ,given the fact that i did not touch any voltage and with those temperatures i listed is it safe in long run with my overclocking?..cuz almost everywhere i search everyone says overclocking is dangerous?
I need a straight answer right on my question..not something like this :in general overclocking reduce lifespan of components blabla

Solution
Overclocking CAN be dangerous.

Overclocking slightly (which is what you've done) isn't dangerous.
Overclocking only starts becoming dangerous when you begin to increase the voltage needs to keep the component stable...
If you haven't changed any voltage setting which it looks like you haven't, dont worry about it.

As long as you keep your temperatures below 75c youll be fine :)
Always monitor your temperatures atleast once a week for an hour just to be safe.

What make/model of laptop are you using?

BTW, OCing always carries risk and you will not get a 100% certain answer regarding any potential negative effects. What experienced users will tell you is that you have to monitor your temperatures and keep your system clean (minimize dust build-up in the fan ports for example) and in most cases you will be fine.

How are you monitoring CPU and GPU temperatures, BTW?

Im using an nvidia card..Right now on idle my gpu stays at 40 and my cpu at 45-50(a bit too much i think)..In long gaming sesions my gpu reaches 60(in some games 65 at most) and my cpu 70(in some games 75).

Thanks for clarifying..But why do you say i did a "slight"overclock since i got 20% fps(on my poor nvidia card )) )..Is it possible that my stock gpu was already underclocked(if this term exists)because stock core was at 587 and after overclocked i managed to push to 776 (thats about 30%)?

I say you have only slightly overclocked because you haven't mentioned increasing anymore settings such as voltages therefore you couldn't have overclocked to high... the higher you can go without changing voltages is the best way to go.
Try to overclock as much as you can without changing any other settings, one you GPU becomes unstable (BSOD etc) then stop overclocking and back off a little.
