I need a great setup for Photoshop and Sony Vegas. I plan on OCing, but it's not for gaming and more like for faster rendering and uploading. Here's what i've come up with so far...

EDIT: Solved the build, thank you TheBigTroll!

I like to see my finished work on a big high res screen to give it a cinema like feeling with the surround sound on my headphones. So it'll be easier to adjust the video settings and perhaps change the editing a bit too until i get that feeling.

-mk120 combo from logitech is the most basic keyboard and mouse combo set you can get that doesnt utterly suck
-g230 is more than fine.

-again, the 4770k performs better in every way. no argument here
-get rid of the cheesy liquid cooler. if you want liquid, get a custom kit or get a h220. every other kit sucks with their cheap blocks and cheap rads
-do not bother with scamtooths no matter if its intel or amd
-the 840 has crappy write speeds and a low number of write cycles. its enough, but why would you pay more for a lower quality product
-do not bother with a 3tb drive unless you can actually use it
-no benefit of the phantom other that you pay more for lesser quality. what might look cool now will not look cool in 3 years
-650w is not needed and they are the same psu compared to the xfx models
-remember that windows premium will not support more than 16gb of ram
-i have a cheaper dvd drive. why pay more for something you dont use
-there is no benefit of the so called 7.1 headset when its virtual and there is no practical benefit of it. get the g230 and you will be more than happy with it

as for the monitor, id get this. you may need a different power adaptor. ask the seller

- Doesn't the 8350 perform better when multithreading? And also it costs 2x more and i wonder if it's more p/p than the 8350 beacuse in most cases i see people pick the 8350 if they are not gaming.
- Then the cooling will cost almost much as my CPU so I will probably need a better CPU to match the quality of the expensive water cooling with a faster CPU and I will end up a build that's out of my budget...
- I heard that 830 isn't much diff from 840 but i't not a HUGE diff in speed so i'll settle with it since it cheaper. If you got anything at same price and better performance plz show me so i can pick that instead...
- Well storing edited stream footage or gameplay does take up alot even for a 30min long clip it uses up alot of gigs so yea i'll prob use it and since it's not big diff in price from the 2TB i was like: Why not pay a little bit more and get a bigger drive for storing data.
- Wanted a full tower and since i already got a gaming rig with r4 i'd hate them to look the same. And i'm pretty sure it will still be the same in 3 years cuz i still have my 4 year old cheap plastic cases that work just as new ones.
- If i do a high OC what's the max amount of watt it will require?
- I got 16gb of ram?
- I'ts 18$ and you say that's it expensive?
- Tbh i never used logitech headphones so i just trust whatever that's ranked nr1 and since it has 7.1 surround i settled for it. I've only used steel series, KOSS and Seinheiser and i have never had any problem with them but i can't seem to find a good pair of those from the website. Is there any good headphones that you can suggest out of theese 3 brands?
- Looks nice, prehaps i'll buy that one instead.

-it doesnt. if my rig is still cheaper than yours, you have space for the i7
-so get a heatsink like what i did for your build
-wasnt talking about the 830. the 840 is not a replacement for the 830. the 840 pro is the replacement. what i recommended is in my partslist
-because if you dont actually use the space, its wasted. a 2tb is enough for most. if you need more, then get another drive
-full towers are no better in that they dont cool better and the only thing that it does is take up more space
-a 550w is enough for a single GPU rig period. nothing much too it. if you are using hte 8350, get a 650w as it runs hot and is a power hog at the same time
-your dvd drive is 24.98. mine is 15 dollars. of course its more expensive
-get a sennhiser if you are serious about sound. you will have to get a sound card along with that as onboard cannot properly drive these headphones

- If i get 2 drives it's just more expensive.
- Why pay 300$ for a CPU and get aircooling for it? Isn't Watercooling way better?
- I know that 830 is not it's replacement but i just stated that 840 isn't much different from it. What about the 840 EVO? It's overall better in everything and only slightly more expensive.
- The Asus Maximus is overall better.
- Doesn't watercooling need more space?
- Missclicked when choose dvd-drive.
- Have you used any Seinheiser that you can recommend?
- I'm not using more than 16gb of ram so i don't know why professional is needed and I will probably not have anu use of more than 16gb in the nearest future neither.
- I want bigger monitor.

-if you arent going to use the extra storage, its just money wasted. if you want to be safe or whatever you want, just get the 3tb drive
-watercooling isnt better unless you go custom. its a marketing scam that everyone falls for. dont know why
-the 840 is MASSIVELY different from the 830. it uses cheap TLC usb grade Nand and it is built cheaper in every way. the 840 evo is the improved version of the 840. still is lower grade but slightly better. at its current price, its not worth considering to begin with
-nope. all z87 boards perform the same period. the cheapest board and the most expensive board will overclock the same and feel exactly the same. haswell effectively eliminates motherboard differentiation. dont fall for the ROG hype. same goes for the amd boards. pretty much all of the overclock the same as well
-yes. same goes for a h100i closed loop system or a heatsink. everything takes up space.
-id suggest hd 558s or something along those lines
-your first rig had 32gb of ram inside, therefore requiring professional. if you arent going to use more than 16gb of ram, use premium
-ebay link is posted for monitor. its 27 inches and at 1440p

- And what about water 2.0 extreme and kraken x60? They're only slightly better but comes with more cons. I saw a poll on people voting 75% for custom water cooling over 25% so i guess i'll go with custom, now i'm off to learn more about custom water cooling as it sounds very interesting!
- Well, it's the evo is better than the one you suggested in terms of power and it's only slightly cheaper but if it's out off better quality i have no idea but it's certainly newer release.
- Well the better the motherboard the better durability and less chance to fail operation, you can't say the d3h has same quality as sabertooth x87 can you? If that's not true then I think I learned about another scam today.
- Yea didn't think about the RAM. I set it too 16GB now so that'll suffice.

EDIT: Ok, I tried to assemble this build, how does it look? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1HxAL
- I plan on adding custom watercooling and the monitor you linked me .
- I have the ud3h myself and i find no cons about this one only pros so you can't say it sucks because it works perfect for me.
- Do you think there's a better p/p SSD than the evo and the sandisk ones at the same price range?
- Is there a cheaper full tower case with close quality and functionality as this one or maybe even better for less money?
- Is this power supply going to be enough with water cooling and OCing? I think it's enough since the CPU has fairly low wattage. My friend has a rosewill and he says they make good quality PSU and linked me this one for a fair price.
- Got a cheaper DVD drive
- So is this build any better? :/

a raystorm kit is all that you need for custom cooling. frozenCPU sells it for 169.99 with free distilled water. not sure how shipping works but you could do a price match at ncix for free shipping if they dont offer it
http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=87430&vpn=5060175584502&manufacture=XSPC%20Asia%20Co.%20Ltd.&promoid=1198

-the gigabyte boards use higher quality components than the sabertooth boards. only the ROG boards match what gigabyte offers on their mainstream platform
-get the d3h. same board, less un-used sata ports. lower price as well
-full tower cases offer nothing over mid towers. if you are going to use a raystorm kit, you will want to choose the phantom 410 over the arc midi r2 as it has more optical bays. if you are to use the arc midi, you cannot install the optical drive
-get the power supply i recommended. low end rosewell psus are junk. they might be fine for basic builds
-no reason to choose a different SSD when it doesnt offer much over the cheaper model, even though its only 2-3 bucks

if you want the same performance as the raystorm kits but without the hassle, you could get a h220 from swfitech. they are not sold in the states due to a lawsuit with asetek (although swiftech designed it completely by themselves) so you will have to order them through ncix canada. contact them if you want more info

-Nah, i'll stick to the ud3h since it has dual bios and a few extra features. I don't mind paying the extra 15$ for more features that might really come in handy if i'm doing something else than editing. They are both same motherboard just that the ud3h has more features that's all.
- Aren't the bays removable?
- Well your PSU was better, then i'll take that one.
- It does have a difference so don't say it doesn't, it's better for a few bucks, not to the point where you will notice it but it's worth the 2-3 bucks so i'll take the samsung one. So it's like: WHY NOT?!?! If i can spend 325$ for a CPU why can't i put 2-3 bucks into a better SSD?
- Better go custom water-cooling i think.
- Do i need a sound card for the headphones?

they both have dual bioses. there is no difference between them other than the sata ports quite literally

the arc midi has 2 optical bay slots. a single raystorm kit resevoir takes up 2 slots, leaving you with no room for an optical drive

there is no difference period. your day to day usage will be EXACTLY the same and same goes for your work. if paying 3 bucks more for literally nothing makes you feel better, go ahead

- I meant the 2x on-board switches... just going for the ud3h because i'm more familiar with it, since i already have one better just get another one.
- Ah, well i guess that leaves me to the 410 then.
- It doesn't matter which one you pick because there's only 3 buck difference, you should rather see from what stores there sold from and which one has better durability instead. I won't starve to death for paying 3 more bucks and taking the samsung one, i mean people buy it more than the sandisk one,,,,

-its the same board. they both have the same exact thing. no difference other than the sata ports. any gigabyte board will feel the same. its not like a ud3h feels like a ud3h while a ud5h feels like a ud5h

there is no difference, so why would you pay more for something that has no difference. you can spend the extra 3 bucks on something useless for all i care because they are pretty much the same. ALL SSDs are about the same. if you want to talk endurance, the samsung loses regardless due to the plain and simple fact that using TLC nand means you have 1000 write cycles vs 3000 on MLC. both of them are going to last for however long you are keeping your rig.

more people buying doesnt mean its better. its like saying more people buy golden iphones therefore it must be better

- I know, it just want the ud3h because i already have one. Might as well have another and it might become easier to sell both my builds in the future if i have the same motherboards.

- TLC doesn't matter since it will last more years than how long I will keep the rig.. I'm looking for what stores are closer to me instead of worrying about 3$ but of course if there sold from same store i plan on buying from then i'm going to take the one i personally feels better suited for me. As i said extra 3$ is not the whole world for me. Maybe if the difference was 20$ then the choice would be obvious. And since it's WAY more popular it'll be easier to sell the build in the future with the samsung SSD even though it's only 3$ extra.

- You can't compare an SSD to an iPhone, everyone buys an iPhone because everyone else bought an iPhone. iPhone is a shitty smartphone which tricks people to buy with it's good looks and unnecessary features, it was made to easily break the display so people would buy the new iPhone that comes out. They made iPhone to break faster so that people would buy a new one resulting in the company gaining more money. So fuck iPhones, they're just there to increase the amount of electronic waste and money! I have and old plastic HTC and i have dropped it 20 times from chest height and the screen doesn't have a scratch on it. Durability is an important question when it comes to phones.

-everything is bought online and has free shipping for the most part. store choice will not matter. and as for resell value, it wont even matter which SSD you chose because they will be worth the same anyways. a samsung sticker doesnt mean its worth more when both drives are old and outdated. again, a more popular choice doesnt mean its better.

i am comparing the fact that you are buying the samsung just because its more popular than the other. its just like how people buy more golden iphones because its more popular. doesnt mean its better than the other models, but because its more popular, according to your logic, it must be better. i am not talking about the iphone itself but i am using it as a comparison.

if you want to talk about iPhones, i have yet to break one even though i dont use a case and i have dropped it face first into concrete without dents or scratches. beats me how you guys can break something so easily

- I think i should get the d3h and use the money left over from what should have been used for the ud3h to buy a soundcard.

- Well more people know the samsung brand than the sandisk one so of course there going to think it's better since its a more well-known international company, doesn't mean it has to be better but usually that's what everyone thinks. iPhone was a bad example but it sorta works the same way for an iPhone though they are basically bragging about how reliable they are so people would buy their product. And yes i'm buying it because it's more popular but the price difference is only 3$ so you can't compare it to an golden iPhone because I would believe the price on that kind of phone would be more than affordable.

- My friends who have iPhones all have cracks on them, some i've even witnessed it happening. Sometimes they get it from dropping the phone hard on the ground with great acceleration and sometimes it has happened that they just had it dropped out of their pocket and the whole screen would crack. Stupid brother of mine broke the screen of his new iPhone 4S already a month after he got it. I believe that you were just lucky in that case and it depends on how hard it hit for if it had hit face down in an even flat way then it's not likely to crack since the pressure was equally distributed. If it had hit the ground at a higher speed or straight on the display but a bit slightly on the side then the chance to crack the side is almost certain. Since this is so out of the subject well leave this discussion and focus on finishing the great editing build.
