hay guys I have a amd fx 4170 in my gaming pc I know its not the best of cpu's but I was on a budget! would have liked a i5 or a i7, anyhow I need to make do with what I have rite now, anyway I have a asrock 990 extreme mobo corsair builders series cxm 750w psu, 16gb of ram with a evga 650ti boost oc. its my birthday soon so I have asked for another evga 650ti so I can SLI, my question is would my cpu bottleneck the gpus or is there enough power to run both gpu cards, it runs at 4.20ghz! I know people don't class the fx4170 as a gaming cpu but surely it has enough power to run both gpus at 1080p with steady fps. would like to run games like bioshock metro the new call of duty at high settings, with a stable 30 to 60 fps.

In well optimized games that are GPU heavy you will be OK. In games that are more CPU intensive you may see a little bit of CPU bottleneck, but it won't be bad. Maybe 8-10 FPS.

You have a good 990 series Motherboard. After you get your 2nd 650ti, consider upgrading to an FX 6300 with a good Air Cooler.

Cheers mate I was looking at the fx 6300 there, on paper they are quite similar, bar the 6300 runs a lot cooler on high load & needs less power! And for £80 it's not bad at all, mite try sell my fx 4170 n buy the 6300, just don't wanto buy another 650ti n not get the potential out of them. If I loss 5 - 10 fps it's not the end of the world
