I am planning on doing a multiple monitor setup for a new build. I was wondering, if I wanted a 2 monitor setup, but also would want the option to expand to three in the future, do I need 2 or more video cards? I've heard that one card is enough for dual monitors, but I need confirmation on that. On a side note, I will be using this PC to be gaming, high end games, like BF3/4, GTA, Crysis, etc.

My questions:
-How many video cards do I need for a tri-monitor setup (21-24 inch screens).
-Would one strong card be better than 2 SLI/Crossfire cards? Three is too many and I've heard people have had config. problems, so I don't want three. On a side note, the GTX 760's are the best price-performance GPU's in the 700's series , goin

typically you can get around 4 displays from n average graphics card but unless you are buying a top of the line gpu you wont got that great of performance when using multiple displays. if you are running at 1080p and you wanted a triple monitor set up you should be fine with two way sli using the 760 gpus. you could push two monitors at 1080p off of a single 760, if you wanted to.

Would running one 770 be enough to go dual at 1080?

Yes for sure but you may see better preformance if you were to get the 770 4gb model instead of 2gb
