Hi all,

I'm a first time poster - I've had a good search through previous posts and can't find an answer to my problem so apologies if this has been asked before!

I've just built my very first machine and now having issues with the Windows 7 boot disc.

The disc is an ISO copy my friend burnt for me.

When I put it into the machine I get the message saying "no boot media found" etc and nothing happens.

I have checked the boot order in BIOS and set the DVD drive to number 1.

I tested the DVD on my girlfriends laptop and it booted from the DVD first time.

I also tried an XP installation cd on the new build and it detected this, started detecting my hardware and then blue screened on me.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks
Stuart

PS Hardware list below:

- Intel Core i3 Ivy Bridge 3220
- MSI H77MA-G43
- Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Vengeance Memory
- EVGA GTX 660 2GB GDDR5 HDMI Dual DVI PCI-E Graphics Card
- Plextor M5S PX-128M5S - Solid state drive - 128 GB
- LiteOn iHAS124 24X Internal DVD Writer with SATA - OEM

On my particular board I have the option of dvd drive as well as brand specific being my asus dvd. That is what I have to choose. Check to see if it is the same in you case.

I'd agree and go with a USB install. Since you are new at it, I would recommend the free Microsoft USB install tool and directions HERE.

In any event, do check your bios and insure that you have chosen the legacy bios type devices and not UEFI type devices in the boot order.
