Hello everyone.

I had my computer working fine since 2007. Today when I pressed the power button on my pc, all the fans, hard drives etc. started properly but nothing was showing on the screen. I've turned:
1.comp off,
2.unplugged everything,
3.plugged it back together,
4.cleared CMOS still no change.

Re-done the steps mention above again, but without putting my graphic card in, and using onboard graphics. Computer started properly. I've turned it off, plugged my GeForce 8800GT, problem comes back.

I thought the card got burned so I bought new one. Plugged it in, no change, cleared COMOS to make sure.

I'm sure it's not PSU because I had a connector which let's me get power from 2 separate IDE power cables.

My question is: Is my PCI-E slot foulty and/or is it possible that I have burned the new Graphic card by inserting it into my Asus P5V-VM DH?

Spec:
Motherboard: ASUS P5V-VM DH
Graphics: GeForce 8800 GT
Memory: 2x 2Gb DDR2
Windows 7 x64
PSU 650W

New card: GTX 650

you clr_cmos after putting the new card in? you update the bios?

(BTW: it sounds like a psu issue, i'd try another psu if you have one available before spending any more cash.)

Yes I have cleared it after putting in back new card. As I mentioned before I have a connector which uses up 2x4pin power cables and makes 6pin PCI, and I also have 2x6pin power cables included in my PSU, so from my point of view it's a bit impossible that it's PSU, coz DVD-rom works perfectly on either of these 4pin power cables so even if my 6pin ones don't work, the power from the 2x4pin should be alright.

that's not how electricity works. i hate to tell you but half your machine can work just fine with a dead/dying psu.

Well I was thinking about upgrading my pc for like a year now, this gave me a push and I've ordered new motherboard+CPU+ram. Wasn't that expensive considering that I bought graphics and all above for less then £200. I'm meant to get it tomorrow so I'll put it together and see, will keep you updated on that.

get a new psu too. if your psu is bad it's a risk to every new part you ordered.

Just tested PSU on neighbors pc, everything works smoothly on his PC, btw my PSU is 1 year old. Another thing I have forgot to mention is that after I restart my PC without the graphics in, just using the integrated one, I have to clr_comos to get it to run to BIOS etc, and I get an error saying that default COMOS have been used. F1 continue - del to setup...

So today my parts came through, connected all including my old PSU, everything working nice and smooth.
Went to my friends shop with old parts, he checked everything and:
Motherboards PCI-E slot burned
Cpu fan power also stopped working today.
He soldered new cpu fan power on, but repairing pci-e costs more than the LGA1155 motherboard which I've bought, so comp is still usable but with onboard graphics.

Thanks Ingtar33 for tips and advice.
