I have had about 4 hard drives put into my system and I built it several years ago. Is it possible for my system to destroy a hard drive? I'm not sure why, but several hard drives in the recent couple of years have stopped working. More recently, I bought a Western Digital 500GB Bare Drive from Microcenter because my old one was making extremely loud noises and it was indicative of HDD failure, and now this one, which was quiet for about 5 days now, has started to constantly make a moderately loud whirring noise as if it is spinning, where as before it wasn't doing that. The whirring sound does not go away now, but it was before. What's going on?
