Hello guys,
I have a big dilemma here. I'm looking for a IPS monitor with good graphics and stuff to play my ps3 on. For me graphics are really important. The first question is: How higher the contrast ratio, how better the graphics. Is this true?

I have 2 options in buying a monitor.
1st option: Asus VS239HR IPS, which has response time of 5 ms and a contrast ratio of 80.000.000:1 http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VS239HR/#specifications

2nd option: LG 24EA53VQ-P, which also have 5 ms response time but 5.000.000:1 contrast ratio

My second question is: Which one is better for ps3, has better graphics and which one should I buy?

Solution
First, Contrast does not determine graphics per se. A higher contrast will just make your blacks blacker and whites whiter. Second, the graphics are determined by your system, in your case, the PS3. Both monitors will be almost identical in terms of picture quality and response time. In my opinion, I would take the ASUS over the LG, just judging from my experience with both. Plus, the ASUS has 16 times the contrast of the LG, which is a plus in my book. Hope this helps.
