Okay, so after asking many questions, I have made a (hope to be) final decision on what my build will be. Here is what i am hoping to use

Case: http://www.amazon.com/NZXT-Technologies-Source-210-Black/dp/B005869A7K/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1379119844&sr=1-1&keywords=NZXT+Technologies+Source+210+Computer+Case+%28Black%29

PSU: http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Current-HCG-520M-BRONZE-Modular/dp/B006TVQTAY (620 watt modular version)

GPU: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-Mini-Displayport-Graphics-GV-R797OC-3GD/dp/B00752QYLK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1379854971&sr=1-1&keywords=gigabyte+radeon+hd+7970

Motherboard: http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/mainboard-acer-daa75l-aparker-specs/

Any parts i missed other than the hard drive? if so tell me. Will all of this be compatible with each other? and will the build work right?

Yes, you have an OEM version of Windows, since you bought a Gateway machine...

Oh my gosh i am so bad. Ok so i have windows 7. The motherboard is a gateway. I am not BUILDING it because it is already built in the Gateway XS2370-US10P. I am just switching cases so i am re-building it. I am getting an optical drive soon. CPU is already in the motherboard.

haha you had me wondering :) Now I'm confused on the motherboard you listed, so not sure if you're switching motherboards, but one thing to be aware of, the Windows 7 that came with the gateway is tied to the motherboard, so you'll probably have to buy a new OS if you switch motherboards. If you are getting a new mobo, you should get a name brand.

The 7970 is a good card, but I'd save a few bucks and get the 7950 and just overclock it to similar speeds.

I am not switching mobo. I also think that Acer is owned by Gateway (or vis versa). So my Windows 7 in on my mobo, not my hard drive? Just want to know. Also I might not be on for that much longer tonight so if you get this answer ASAP please :).

Edit: I forgot to add this, I have no idea how to overclock.

Gotcha. The OS files are on your hdd, yes. But when you buy a pre-built system the OS installed on it is tied to that motherboard (same thing if you buy the OEM version of an OS and install it on your own rig). It's saves on cost, but then you can't use it for any other machine.

So that means i cant use the mobo with a different hard drive (is that hdd. sorry i dont know a lot) or the hdd with another mobo?

You can always reinstall an OS on any disk/motherboard combo (as long as it's not the OEM version, it has to be a retail version). It's just that you can't buy a new motherboard and try to use the same OS disc/activation key as a pre-built PC.

Hope that's not more confusing.

Here's the price difference:

Retail: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116717

EDIT: here's another thread that might help: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/42690-63-reinstall-windows-motherboard

ok. i think i understand it. but i am using the same hard drive and mobo. Should i be good? But in the future i will want to upgrade my mobo for more ram and maybe another pci express 4 another gpu. Will i also then have to get a new hard drive, and if i do then, can i transfer the files from my old one to my new one. i am pretty sure you can but i just want to be sure. I have to go for the night now, but feel free to answer and i will check back tomorrow :)

Edit: Thanks for all of your help and co-operation with my small knowledge! Also do i have to switch hdd or can i just add it and then boot off of that drive.

Okay, so i have an OEM version of windows 7? and just to be clear, OEM type is the version where it is in the motherboard rather than it being on the hard drive? If i switch mobo, i will have to buy a new version of windows? That is what i assume from what i think i am supposed to understand. Other than all of that, what about my original question? will everything work together, as in will the gpu fit into the mobo, will the psu fit in the case, will the mobo fit in the case, will the psu come with all the cables i will need, etc. I have asked all of these questions seperatly but i just want another 100% yes. THANK YOU SO MUCH EVEN iF IT DOSNT WORK

Yes, you have an OEM version of Windows, since you bought a Gateway machine. All operating systems are loaded on the hard drive, but OEM versions are also tied to the motherboard they were first loaded on. So, if you switch motherboards, you'll need to buy a new version of Windows 7, yes.

To your original question, yes everything will work just fine and fit together fine. No compatability problems there. Depending on your CPU there may be a small amount of bottleneck, since this is a higher end GPU, but you will still be fine.

Also be aware that you may have to fiddle with the front I/O cabling on the new case to get it to work with your old motherboard. On pre-built systems they often don't label the I/O connectors on the motherboard (e.g. HDD light, Power switch, reset switch, etc), so you may have to do some trial and error to get the cables set up properly.
