I'm new here at Tomshardware,

hi guys,

I'm planning to buy a CPU and go for AMD FX 6300, and a GPU for MSI Radeon HD 7770, I'm wondering if these two are good pair? I'm on a tight budget, so if I need to adjust, all of my option is lower my budget :)

Thanks

Solution
Those will do you fine. The FX-6300 and HD 7770 are at your budget level's "sweet spot". Put them on an ASRock 970 Pro3 motherboard (great value at only $60) and you'll be quite happy with the results.

Hi Avro Arrow

Thanks for the reply! I'm reading alot about bottlenecking of CPU and GPU vice versa, I'm from Philippines and as of now I can't find the 970 Pro3 on any shop near me.

here are the parts mostly available for me.

MSI 990FXA-GD65 Xfire/ddr3
AsRock 990FX Extreme 3

other MOBO are micro ATX:
MSI 880GMS-E41 FX VSL
AsRock 960GM-VGS3 FX VS/GL
AsRock N68C-GS FX VSL/combo
Asus M5A78L-M LX/3 760G/VSL/ddr3

-well im not sure if micro atx is cool for gaming, i've read that it's not good for OC'ing since the parts are too close and the airflow is not that good.

Good Day again ^_^

I'm from the Philippines as well, planning to build almost the same gaming rig.

For a tight budget, I wouldn't be choosing the:

MSI 990FXA-GD65 Xfire/ddr3
AsRock 990FX Extreme 3

as these are Xfire/SLI boards, and if your not planning to Xfire, your wasting money.

by comparison between:

MSI 880GMS-E41 FX VSL
AsRock 960GM-VGS3 FX VS/GL
AsRock N68C-GS FX VSL/combo
Asus M5A78L-M LX/3 760G/VSL/ddr3

the AsRock 960GM-VGS3 FX VS/GL is the best buy budget wise as it Supports OC RAM 1600(OC)/1866(OC).

MSI 880GMS-E41 FX VSL, does not support OC RAMs
AsRock N68C-GS FX VSL/combo is a combo DDR2 and DDR3 board, that has system limitations for RAM
Asus M5A78L-M LX/3 760G/VSL/ddr3 short life span of mobo, based on experience.

My Setup:

AMD FX-6300 Black Ed
AsRock 960GM-VGS3 FX VS/GL
Inno3d GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192Bit Herculez 2000
RipjawsX 8GB 1600(OC) F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL
FSP Hexa 600watts PSU
Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200RPM HDD>>> 2nd Hand, My only pain point.

all in all around $665 USD or 29,000 Php
