would this be a good build for gaming?

Not really. I would drop the SSD entirely and use the HD as the primary storage, as well as the 16GB of RAM. Use the difference instead for a better CPU. What is your budget?

+1 i agree with g-unit1111.Also drop the 16gb of ram down to 8gb it's more then enough for gaming bud.

already have cpu... not going to buy it... knowing that do you have any other suggestions? also why drop ssd it's faster than a HD and will provide faster booting and loading time?

If you haven't opened your CPU you can return it. The reason being is that for gaming I would get the overclocked model as that will provide a huge boost in performance and most motherboards manufactured post 2011 will practically do it for you.
