So I left my computer to download games on steam for a few hours, when I came back I noticed my computer was unresponsive, so I shut it down and held the button in for a few seconds proper.

When I restarted it came into the chkdsk automatically, so I let it ran like I am supposed to?

When I restarted, I came back in and immediately went to the event viewer, it appears this defrag ran automatically 1 minute before many corrupt file errors began:

My question is, since I had many programs running in the background while this apparently defrag began, would that of been my issue? I did not think to check for any scheduled events such as that.

Solution
Holding the power button for a few seconds is a forced shutdown. Doing this during a defrag could cause corruption. Tapping the power button briefly sends windows the shutdown command, holding the power button is a forced shutdown.

Hi, defrag has never froze any of my computers. Running programs does not really do any harm to defragging other than slowing things down a bit.

I would recommend you run a full surface scan on that drive and see if you have any errors that need blocking out.

Okay scratch that, the computer froze again after I ran the same program and it was trying to repair it's self, something is corrupting when that program is trying to download/install

Yeah I will set this one as solved, defrag did indeed cause duplicate files while guild wars 2 was installing, after I ran the chkdsk and completely removed guild wars 2, I was able to successfully reinstall guild wars 2 no problem, I have since set defrag to only operate manually to prevent future issues, I will set this as solved.
