Hey everyone,
I was not sure where to post it, so I decided to post this question here.
Lately my pc has not been performing on a level that i hope it would, where I used to be able to play games on medium settings comfortably, newer games performed worse and worse, to the point where i would get choppy frame rates etc. At first i decided to simply upgrade my graphics card (ATI readon hd 3800 series to AMD readon 7700 series) however i barley noticed much of an performance increase (21 fps to 23 fps avg.) and I concluded that my cpu was holding it back.
Question: how should i upgrade my pc for a relative cheap price (not more then 200-300$)
My current cpu/mainboard/ram are:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x 2 5000+ , AM 2 socket (940), 1.328 voltage.
Mainboard: Micro-star International, MS-7388 1.0, AMD 790x
Ram: 2 x 1gb ddr 2, pc2-6400(400mhz)
Is the mainboard ok, and just replace the cpu and get 4gb of ddr 2 ram?
Or should I replace the whole thing?
If so, any suggestions on what cpu/motherboard i should get?
Thanks in advance,
