Hello, I live in Pakistan, and here we suffer from very long load shedding.. means no light for 2 3 hours couple of times in a day... so long ago i bought 1kva ups local made inventor with dry battery... but now i have 3 systems running and 2 led(23') and 1 lcd(40').. now whenever the electricity goes, my systems restart.. i guess i must be on full load .. but ups does survive 2 3 hours if only 2 systems are up ... now i hoping to save my one pc from fluctuations when light goes and comes by putting in a 650va ups in between the big ups and the system .. is that wise ??

With most UPS units (that don't have the newest slide in pack type battery) you can add a few more batteries wired in parallel. I've even seen a few people substitute a small sealed car battery in 12V UPS units. I have one old APC 12V unit with three high amp hour generic replacement batteries in parallel that will run for many hours. Use all the same type of batteries -- no mixing different chemistries. HERE is a diagram.
