How do I load my new MS Office 2007 on my new Dell computer?

My new Dell computer has MS Office program which only goes online to offer MS 2010 for installing, purchase, or try for a limited time.

When I tried to load the new MS Office 2007 (Standard) issue, it asks for the product key, which is refused. It seems to suggest that I get Microsoft Office 2010.

This is the first time I have ever had to load a program. Should I remove the Office program that came with the computer before doing anything?

The only thing I have loaded are my genealogy files, which have never been a problem on my older computer. I have not installed the genealogy program, yet; I want to get the computer up to being useable.

What should I do to install the new program?

Thank you or your help.

The MS Office on the laptop is most likely only a trial version or even only a link to the trial version. Do you have a DVD with Office 2007 and a license key, or only a license key? It sounds like you are trying to install Office 2010 with a 2007 product key. That is not going to work. If you have a dvd, uninstall the current office and install the 207 version from dvd.

Try uninstalling the Office 2010 trial that came with your laptop and ensure you are entering the product key correctly. It may be worth ensuring that it is in fact the product key you are entering.
