Hey guys,

I need your help I think i have got some kind of malware on my computer. Yesterday morning when i tried to go to www.facebook.com i got this strange 100% fake website. I decided to do a ping facebook.com and i got a completely different ip than before. Is it possible that some kind of malware is redirecting me to this fake website. I tried going on my laptop but the same problem persists there. I did numerous malware checks with malwarebyte, spybot etc. but it found nothing. I also did full system checks with my anti-virus. I have no idea what this is caused from.
I hope you can help me I really don't want to reinstall Windows.

Best regards
Alex !

You can try this:

http://support.kaspersky.com/4162

Kaspersky's Rescue Disk. You boot from it, it downloads updates, and it scans your computer, looking for very hard-to-scrub viruses. My step-mother had TDSS, one of the worst of the worst viruses out there, and it cleaned it right up. She has had no problems since.

The truly paranoid will recommend that you wipe your hard drive clean and re-install Windows. That is probably what I would do, personally. But if you decide to go that round, this should get you clean enough to rescue any files that you want to keep before doing that.

First delete a file called hosts

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

This is a hidden system file used to override the DNS. It is not generally used by most people and the system will recreate it if you ever need it.

You also need to check to be sure the DNS name your pc is using is correct. You can change it to 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.2 to test.

Also be sure there is no proxy set in your browser.

None of the above things is actually malware but malware could have changed it and then deleted itself
