Solution
Use the tube I suggested to listen to the hard drive to verify that is the source.

Go to the hard drive web site. They should have diagnostics that are specific to their drives. WD is called data lifeguard.

If you need to rma the hard drive, this would be an opportune time to install a SSD. It makes everything you do so much quicker.
120gb will hold the os and a handful of games. Use the hard drive for overflow storage.
Without a SSD for the os, I think your times are nominal.

Where are the weird noises coming from?

Use a rolled up tube to your ear to try to identify the source.
The easy thing would be a fan blade contacting a cable.
Of more concern would be sounds from your psu or hard drive.
If it is either of those, I would rma the part.

If you want, Microsoft security essentials is free and very low overhead.
You might try that instead of Norton.

This didn't use to happen and now it takes ages.Even after it has started it acts slow.also when i used hd tune there were errors in "interface communication".Also the noises come at startup and when i open a program but it doesn't sound like a fan and it sounds like that something has gone wrong in the harddrive. But when i tested it ,it had a "ok"health. And thanks for replying so fast but could you help me further mate.
