hello, not sure if this is where this should be put. but here it goes

i have had this problem for quite some time now but its hard to find out whats causing the problem.since this is random it can happen once a day or once a week.

i will get 1 long beep 2 short beeps which is no ram detected. also get the overclocking has failed even though everything is set to factory default settings. every now and again as soon as i switch pc on it switches straight off and bios will not post and just hang. but like i said this is random.

I have tried all possibilities by moving ram and doing a memory scan which turned up no errors. checking temps and everything else i find on the web but nothing has worked so hopefully someone here can help.

when computer does decide to boot up i occasionally get a bit of a hang now and again especially when browsing the web. but apart from that no bsod. i have noticed after playing games for a good few hours that is normally when i have noticed the computer having problems posting so don't know if that could mean anything to anyone.

asus m5a97 le r2.0
crucial tactical tracer 8gb 2x4gb
amd fx6300
evga gtx 660 ti ftw 2gb
corsair gs800
kingston v+300 120 gb
seagate ssd hybrid 500gb

any help would be great.. my guess its either the motherboard or psu

Maybe some BIOS instability? since you don't need to re-seat the RAM modules after each problem, plus those "OC failed" messages I'd say your BIOS is having some issues changing some configs randomly.

I saw something similar once (the "OC has failed" msg) but that was on a faulty mobo due to a bad capacitor causing power losses, however the power losses forced BIOS to randomly switch some voltage values.

Try updating the mobo BIOS and see if the problem goes away.

Suspect the RAM. Just finished troubleshooting and "fixing" a friends pc with similar problem. I say "fixing" cause it was still under warranty; when Memtest showed bad ram the company sent a tech out to replace the ram and the mobo.
Try running just one stick of RAM at a time, and for at least 2-3 days of use. If the first stick runs fine, try the second in the same DIMM slot. (Check the mobo manual to find out which slot to use for just one stick). If they both work in that one slot, for several days each test, then try (may or may not work) the fist stick in the second slot).
MEMTEST doesn't always find a bad stick of ram.
One last thing, it could be a power issue; doesn't sound like it from the error message your are getting, but the PSU could be heating up (not even overheating) and losing power.

forgot to say that the motherboard currently has coil whine when idle or using the web i can hear it down my headset and also from the motherboard. i noticed it getting louder after a cold boot on a morning. then sort of fades a bit but can still hear it so could that be the proplem with it having the coil whine.

bios is fully updated it's on the latest update

Starting to sound like power issue with the coil whine. What PSU are you running (make, model, power label)?

Sorry, For the 5th or 6th time I reread your original post and you had it in that post and I just didn't see it.
Bare with me and I will do a little more research to see what I can find out and I will repost.
Nice picture; mine never turn out that good.

lol, thanks alot. picture taking from a iphone 3gs

This may be a learning experience for both of us.
Power supply info first: (You may already know this stuff) Your psu is manufactured by Channel Well. They are not considered the Best in the business but they generally make good to excellent units that, again generally, last a long time and are reliable. But as I have discovered in my relatively long lifetime, every company occasionally has a bad unit; it seems that I have received many of them! LOL!
If you have access to another psu, even a 600 or 650 watt unit, try installing and using that to see if all the problems go away.
NOW the interesting stuff, perhaps a real solution contained herein.
The next link is back to Tom's and it has thread concerning 'coil whine'.
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/forum-74.html?refine=coil+whine
I only looked at two:" Coil Whine and Games Brief Pause" and "GPU Coil Whine Culprit for Sound Card Noise!"
You might what to look at a couple others as well as these. It might be your video card that is causing the problem. A call to EVGA tech, if you can actually get a phone number, might help also; I have used them before and they were extremely helpful.
Please re-post if any of this helps, or Doesn't. I will reply as quick as I can, but am going to be working the next few days so will have limited PC time and access.

got no access to another psu so that's out of the question sorry. i have had this graphics card for 2 weeks i had a evga 550 ti before and had coil whine on the gpu but this can be caused by the motherboard or psu and nothing to do with the gpu. so i don't know really what it can be lol
