That CPu is not overclockable so no real need for PSU of that wattage and custom cooler. Also swapped the motherboard.

thanks for the info on the cooler and PSU... I've had enough issues with MB in the past that I'll stick with Intel boards for a machine that I won't be around to fix

More memory, and a monitor that is easily calibrated (preferably IPS or PVA) are my best advice.
