So my old boss gave me this lens for free since one of the three metal tabs on the bottom side had a ding in it that made it impossible to mount to a camera. For the time being i filed out the ding in the bayonet so it'd mount fine but now Id like to actually fix it permanently.

My question is if I buy a "for parts" Tamron lens that has some other issue can I use the locking bayonet mount of it? Or are they specific depths to specific lenses. From my observation they appear to be the same part.

Thanks

Just the metal plating? Well, there should be guys on ebay just selling that part for pretty cheap, so it wouldn't hurt to try it out.
