Micro SD not recognised by phone or PC

SD card has never worked in the phone. While trying to format it, my PC will only alert me to 'insert a disk into the drive.' Not sure if I bought a piece of junk or I'm missing something.

sometimes is a user knowledge issue. for instance early card readers cannot read the newer style sd cards like sdhc and sdxc. SD cards are not backwards compatible so an sdhc card wont work in an old sd reader or phone. you will need to check which types of card your reader/phone is compatible with and only use those (or get a new reader/phone)
