Solution

Hi - 1st I've heard gtx760 in SLI being unreliable. Assuming that to be be true,
you are kinda stuck with Nvidia gtx770 as the gtx780 is still over $600 everywhere.

You could consider an AMD card if their new cards being announced anytime now
offer you the performance you want at $500. Another option, the hd7970 prices have dropped sharply of late and you may be able to CF 2 of them @ $500 in a week or so.

Or, maybe AMD's new cards will get the gtx770 priced low enough to SLI them
@ $500, but I doubt this scenario in the near future.

2 7950s in xfire. bf4 is a gaming evolved title meaning it will be designed to run best on radeon gpus and it's a game that will use every core you got, so strangely if you're building for BF4 i'd look at an fx8320 or fx8350 over that i5... and an i7 over the fx...
