I have nVidia 8400gs 512mb 64bit,and i want to upgrade my graphic card, but i don't know is it XFX 8800gts 320mb 320bit a good choice...8800gts have a lot more bits, but only 320mb and it's older architecture 90nm(G80) vs 65nm(G98) on my 8400gs,and i don't know is it worth upgrading ,and how much difference in performance is between those two cards...I will be very thankful if someone can help me decide...
Just to add this,i have an option also to upgrade to Zotac 8800gts 512mb 256bit,but it's a bit more expensive... :??:

If you can find one, it will be a heck of an improvement over the 8400gs for sure. That thing was no gaming card at 64bit. Zotac is a good card.

What's your total budget?

I'm pretty sure you can get a much much better card for cheaper now. Those are very old, hard to find graphics cards.

Still rocking a Geforce 8800GTS-640, but I don't game all that much (MechWarrior Online is about it). Works fine for me, but I would also ask (as DarkSable does), what your total budget is. You could probably get a much better/newer card for that amount.

My budget is pretty low, around 40-50$,i don't want to buy new card,i want some used, and those two cards are the only one i found for ~50$...

I suspect he may have an older rig, which would mean at least a new PSU for a newer card.

If it's a choice between the two, go with the 8800GTS-320, but understand, you're going to need a decent power supply to power it (~500 watts).

I already bought a new PSU only for that purpose... :)
So you say XFX with 320/320 is better choice, even though zotac have newer architecture and 512/256 ?

I think you misunderstood me,XFX and Zotac are both 8800GTS,and i want to buy one of them,i mention it in a first post,i have Asus 8400gs,and i will ask like this,to make it simple, because i already made it complicated...
Asus nVidia 8400gs 512/64 65nm(G96) - I own it
XFX nVidia 8800gts 320/320 90nm(G80) -Want to buy
Zotac nVidia 8800gts 512/256 65nm(G92) - Want to buy
Which one will be best choice? :)
Sorry for bothering you,but i only want to make a right decision :)

Either one will be good as long as they have fans and not heatsinks for cooling.

Sorry. I did mis-understand.

The Zotac 8800GTS-512 is the better purchase. It has a newer chipset (G92) versus even my card (G80).

Yes. Based on Tom's Hardware - Best GPU for the money chart, you'll see that the 8800GTS is rated far above the 8400 GS.

The 8400GS is trash. I bought on when my 7600GS died. That thing was 128 bit and did well. The 8400GS was 64 bit and definitely couldn't handle much as far as gaming went. Ended up ordering an 8600GT and trashing the 8400GS.
