My Rig

Full tower case with lots of cooling fans
PSU - 650W
Mobo - 990FXA-UD7
CPU - Liquid Cooled AMD FX-8350 4.0Ghz (not OC'd)
GPU - GTX 480 Super OC 1.5GB DDR5
SSD
Memory - 16GB DDR3 1600
Windows 7 premium

Core Temps stay around 8-10 degrees Celsius at idol and Never past 38 Degrees Celsius even after a few hour gaming binge.

I hand picked my parts to be a great higher end rig at a reasonable price. Ive built many PC's and this one was running perfectly for me with flawless program operations high FPS gaming and 35 second boot times. It still runs flawlessly minus this new FPS issue.

Games played are WoW and Bioshock infinite. Both games averaged around a stable 100+ FPS even in raids and demanding scenes NEVER dropping below 85 fps for long. Now they wont go above 60fps.

All drivers are updated and the games still run fine but I really want to see those FPS where they were before. Here is a little FPS test from Bioshock. One from the 22nd and one from today 25th.

Also yesterday I was going to attempt an SLI setup but did not have the 8 pin PCIE splitter for my PSU so I go to MicroCenter. I tell them what I am looking for and they dont have it but the guy tells me he has a 4 pin to 8 pin for the pcie. I get it home and realize its the wrong one my girlfriend had to run out so she took it back for me also taking my second GTX 480. I told her to please show the simple ass employees there what I need it to go to. She bring it back and the connector is already attached to the graphics card and I assume its the correct connector and instal it. Computer shuts down immediate after power on. I realize there is an issue and take out the second GPU. I take out the power connector that the MICRO CENTER employee must have forced into my graphics card and see that it is an ATX 8 pin connector not the PCIE 8 pin. Now I am furious and order the correct parts (still waiting for them to get in). I leave original GPU in the computer and now getting LOW FPS. I tried both GPU singly and both are getting same LOW FPS 45-60. I am 99.9% sure this is when the problem started but have no idea why or how to fix.

Same deal with WOW. I am very confused. I just dont know what to do here. I know its going to be hard without knowing what exactly I have done to the computer in the last few days but any help would be much appreciated.

for starters a 650w psu would be borderline for that setup with dual gtx480 graphics cards, i wouldnt recommend you pursue this. first thing i would try is to use driversweeper to remove all traces of drivers and reg entries, and reinstall the latest driver with only one of the cards.

I was thinking the same thing about the PSU but there is a lot of debate about it. If it is an issue I will upgrade for sure. What PSU would you recommend and thank you I am going to try the driversweep now.
