Hey guys,

I just built my pc and have been working on overclocking it.

4670k, 212+, ASrock extreme 3

So far I can get to 4.0 ghz on 1.165 volts and the temps peak at 80 when running intel burn test and go to around 60 when playing games (idle at ~35). However, I can't overclock it any higher. I can't get 4.2 to be stable until like 1.25 volts at which point temps are too high.

My first question is: do the 4.0ghz oc temps look ok? Second: do you guys normally see really high temps at 1.25 volts? Third: should I be able to hit 4.2 at lower voltages? Also, I noticed that load line calibration in the bios at 4.0 ghz is always disabled. Even when I turn it on and then reboot, it will say disabled. However at 3.8 ghz it stays enabled. Any ideas?

Thank a million.

You're overdoing you volts I think 1.65 is really high. Try 1.5.
Then try increasing the NB frequency to 2400 with an NB voltage of 1.3375.
From there, go up in 100Mhz steps until you're unstable, then just step back.

Yes. They look fine, but you may be looking at the wrong voltage. You need to go to VCore, not CPU input voltage.

It all depends on the quality of your chip, and Haswell chips are all hot.

It is all trial and error. Try it and see.
