Torrent download speed is high , but browsing speed is very slow

Dear Friends,

I am using 4mbps broadband connection and last week by mistake I had reset my router settings. After looking at the internet and changing the router settings , I am getting very low browsing speed (looks like 100kbps).

When I do speed test (speedtest.net) there it is shows my download speed as 4 mbps but during upload speed test it always shows error "upload error please try again". Also if I use torrents the download speed is high as per 4mbps plan.

So I am confused why I am getting such low browsing speed and at least other sites download very slowly but facebook and gmail doesn't open only.

Can somebody help me in this regard.

What changes have you made to router ?
You can try resetting them back to factory default.
As far as browsing speed concerns, it may vary as per the website, check if there are not any active downloads or any updates running in background.

Give a shot browsing in safe mode with networking.

Before modifying the router settings I had I had done a factory default re-boot. I am having bettel 110TCI ADSL modem with BSNL broadband connection.
While surfing the sites I make sure the torrent are not working. Actually this issue is going on since one week.

Yeah in morning I had tried with safe mode with networking but without any success.

I had tried with google dns and open dns servers but without much success. Right now obtain IP address and DNS address is kept in automatic mode. I am not sure whether to type in IP and DNS server address manual in TCP/IP configuration.

Is it more than one computer?
What is your computer specs? Are you sure its not a problem with the computer?

I am only accessing the internet through one computer only.
Computer specs are
Dell™ Inspiron Desktop 580s
Processor : I3
Windows(R) 7 Home Premium 64bit
4GB (2X2GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz Memory
