So I've got 8GB of HyperX red in 2 modules. As I understand it, I should be able to overclock them since they are that type of product. They run at 1600Mhz and CL9. I am able to overclock the timings in the BIOS, but am unable to change the frequency for some reason. This is not an issue, because I don't think my CPU would handle 1866Mhz RAM very well. I beleive the default voltage is 1.5, which is, as I understand, standard.
I'm hoping I could pull off CL8. What settings might I change in the BIOS for that? What voltage would be necessary? I understand that it's the best idea to run memtest a couple times before even booting into the OS. But what should I use to test it once inside the OS?
Any help would be great! I've overclocked my CPU and GPU, so I should be able to follow.
Oh, BTW, I've got 5 case fans, temps are not an issue.
