will Windows notify the user if Check Disk finds unrepairable damage?

For Windows 7, if the Check Disk utility is used on the C drive and includes a surface scan (which will occur when the computer is restarted), will Windows notify the user in a clear way if there is a critical issue found, or is it entirely up to the user to look in their system logs afterwards and interpret them to figure out if Disk Check found something that it could not repair?
