am planning to upgrading my system btw thanx for ppl helping me build my budget gaming build in past

questions
1> get a entry level core i5 like 2400 with cheap motherboard

or

2? get a amd fx 6300 cpu along with some good 970 chipset mobo or if possible even 990fx

FYI: i have a cm hyper 212 evo to overclock

usage: ( plz am on budget build plz dont suggest top class components)

1> gaming
2> multi tasking with 30+ tabs open
3> extensive use of mech soft like catia v5,v6, solid edge, auto cad, etc
4> require features like usb3, sata3, hd audio ( which am really missing on my LGA 775 chipset)

current system
c2q 8300 @2.5ghz with CM hyper 212 evo
gigabyte g41m combo
asus gtx 560ti direct cu II
corsair cx 430v2 (single rail @32A)
normal transcend ddr3 ram (1333mhz)
acer 1080p led
a c 155 K Overclocking
a c 277 4 Gaming
a c 863 à CPUs

Based on your uses I would go option 2 especially you are all set on overclocking.

If I was you, I would almost indefinitely go for option 2. They can run almost every game on high settings, If it helps, I myself am getting pretty much exactly the same CPU and MoBo as option 2.

Option 2 will give you substantially more value per dollar in terms of features and very good performance.

ok, thanx for replies, does overclocking (for amd, btw i've a limited psu i.e 32A) really improves performance by great margin, or else i will go with some decent 760 chipset or cheap 970 chip set, along with 4gb of ram, if yes plz suggest me some good 760 motherboard with best overclocking in it's class, and minimum 125w+ cpu support, (and yea along with usb3, and hd audio)

btw how bad is msi 970a-g46 for overclocking (as i heard vrm 's are not that good) , i really loved it because of it's features and sli option

It is not good as you say it has VRM issues.

An FX 6300 can do at least 3.9-4.1 on a 125w capable motherboard without stressing components. A 970 extreme4 would be a decent pick for a lower cost overclocking 970 board. 990fx I would probably choose a gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3

Go with at least a 970 chip set, especially if you're planning to OC.

Better 970 board that does SLI http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... but I would suggest 990FX board for that and overclocking, simply better headroom.

Assuming you live in the US and Microcenter is near enough, you may want to look at their AMD and Intel bundles. While you can order them online, you must go to the store and pick them up in person.

It is their way of attracting people to the store to buy even more things from impulse purchases. Microcenter's master plan is to have people buy so many electronics from their store that those people and their children's children shall forever be in debt for their rest of their lives.

Neither. You can get the 970 extreme4 for about $5 more than the 3 and less than the gigabyte board.

I would prefer the i5 over the FX 6300, just because 4 cores are enough for gaming and the Single Threaded performance of the i5 is much better than that of the Fx 6300 which makes it better for gaming.

As for the CPU, I would recommend the i5 3rd generation or the 4th generation more.
